    Steel Your Heart Away Eggrolls

The winner in Bob’s Red Mill Steel Cut Oats contest, landing me in Scotland with their marketing team representing BRM and the U.S., this original recipe of mine makes me proud. Like a child of mine. It also made it’s way into a Family Circle Cookbook-the recipe that just never stops giving! I think you’ll love the recipe because it’s not really hard to make, but according to the emcee in Carrbridge Scotland at The Golden Spurtle, it is “orgasmic.” Seriously-I have a video to prove it. My husband insists I need to set up a booth at the Texas State Fair and sell these. I’m content with just knowing…

    Moist Sour Cream Banana Bread

I took my mom’s sour cream banana bread recipe and made just a couple of changes, but I am showing you the original recipe card in front of my memorable photo of her.  Instead of adding 1 c. white sugar, I added 1/2 c. white and 1/2 c. light brown sugar. I also added a little (1-2 t.) maple syrup to the batter-I love the addition of maple syrup to banana bread. Then I substituted unbleached flour for the all-purpose flour-it makes it just a little better texture-a little more dense. Print Mom's Moist Sour Cream Banana Bread Ingredients 1/2 cup butter, room temp 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup light…

    No-Crust Pumpkin “Pie”

I’m one of those annoying “Pumpkin Everything” people that you love to hate. That is, unless you are one too! It doesn’t have to be fall for me to crave pumpkin pie, and in fact, it’s a real superfood. Full of fiber, rich in beta-carotene, potassium, and vitamin C.  Avoid the pumpkin pie filling in a can, but use the canned pure pumpkin or fresh pumpkin. I use canned because it’s so easy, and top this with whipped topping, and you’ve died and gone to heaven. Susan’s Mom-Mom Bessie’s Sour Cream Cookies for Christmas

When you find a recipe that everyone loves and fights over, you’d better keep it and make sure you make it every year. This was the case with this cookie. A cooking friend of mine, Susan Bickta, shares her husband’s grandmother’s famous sour cream cookies on Just A Pinch recipe site HERE. The batter is a little thin, but that makes for such a moist cookie, and I drop a ball of dough into the bowl filled with pumpkin pie spice and sugar and roll it around on all sides, then I place it on a baking sheet lined with a silpat, but parchment paper works well also. Yes, I…
