Keto Porridge

Porridge or hot cereal or cream of wheat or Malt-O-Meal, it really doesn’t matter what you call this hot breakfast cereal that is great on a low-carb, keto eating plan. It’s just plain GOOD!

Seriously, the two things I miss about not eating many carbs is my cereal in the morning and the toast I would have with it. Carb on Carbs on Carbs. No wonder I ended up not being able to sleep on my tummy!

SO….I went to work, did my research and made my own hot cereal (I’m still working on the toast).

It reminds me of good, old fashioned Malt-O-Meal I used to eat when I was a kid. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Keto Porridge

Servings 1


  • 2 T. coconut flour
  • 2 T. ground flax seeds or flax flour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • dash salt (or PHSS)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 T. butter, divided
  • 2 T. heavy whipping cream, divided
  • dash ground cinnamon, optional
  • 1/4 cup fresh blueberries, optional
  • 1 T Stevia or sweetener


  1. In a medium saucepan over medium high heat, add almond flour, ground fax seeds, water and salt. Whisk and cook 1-2 minutes, while whisking. Turn heat to medium low.

  2. Beat egg slightly in a small bowl and pour gradually, continually whisking, until completely combined. Whisk and cook an additional 2 minutes. Add 1 T. butter, 1 T. heavy cream and cinnamon.

  3. Pour into serving bowl and top with remaining 1 T. cream, 1 T. butter, stevia and the blueberries.

  4. This serving with blueberries is 7 net carbs and very filling.
